On a very wet June day 40 members of the club braved the weather to visit Burghley House Gardens on the edge of Stamford. While the weather was not kind, the gardens were a delight. Our visit started with a tour of the private gardens with senior gardener John, who provided an informative tour of the South Gardens, which are not normally open to the public and as such had to ourselves.

After the tour of the private gardens and a spot of lunch at one of the two eateries on site, members then visited the rest of the gardens, which included the garden of surprises, of which there were many and also the Capability Brown gardens.
